Long-term Results of Rectosigmoidectomy for Hirschsprung¢¥s Disease

Abstract

|
At the National Medical Center the author have experienced 17 cases of Hirschsprung¢¥s disease during 5 years period from Feb. 1959 to Feb. 1964. Operative technique of Swenson in 13 cases and Duhamel in 4 cases were used.
The length of aganglionic segment ranged from 17 §¯ to 35 §¯. There were 2 cases of deaths and mortality rate was 11.7%. Early postoperative complications occured in 12 cases as listed in Table 5. The follow-up period ranged from 3£8years in the presented series and the salvage rate of determinated cases were 76.4%.
